Teacher on Special Assignment - Sunrise Elementary School

Application deadline date: May 10, 2015

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to assist the building principal and certificated staff to provide
the best possible learning environment for each teacher and
student; to learn the role of the building principal.

1. Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school. **
2. Serve as administrative designee in the absence of the regular principal. **
3. Attend school and community events and actively recruit parent and community involvement in school planning and events. **
4. Work with the principal to facilitate linkages among curriculum, instruction and assessment by leading and collaborating with staff. **
5. Conduct goal setting, observations and evaluations of support staff members as assigned by the principal. **
6. Assist with discipline issues including Fix-It/Bottom Line notices and parent meetings.
7. Document Fix-It and Bottom Line notices in PowerSchool.
8. Make attendance issue contacts.
9. Attend PLC's if principal is unable to attend.
10. Attend IEP meetings if principal is unable to attend.
11. Assist with the Problem Solving Team.
12. Assist with Safety Team.
13. Positive visits with students.
14. Bus duty/lunch room check-in.
15. Attendance letters.
16. Call from parents when principal is out of the building.
17. Work with counselors, social workers, psychologists and other community agencies on student referrals.
18. Serve as a resource person in identifying and solving classroom problems.
19. Perform other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month position. Teacher Salary Schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy by the immediate supervisor.

Starting salary range: $42,605 to $62,446

.6 FTE Medical Careers Instructor - Century High School

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Assistant Principals


JOB GOAL: Assist students to improve school and class attendance that enables student success in school as well as resolving interpersonal problems and conflicts in order to provide students with a worthwhile learning experience.

1. Support the mission of Bismarck Public Schools and the value of education.
2. Oversees the maintenance and administration of the attendance policy.
3. Addressing disciplinary issues regarding truancy, tardiness, unexcused absences, etc.
4. Maintains records associated with attendance
5. Enlists the county attorney's office when necessary, to address truancy issues
6. Works with faculty and staff to resolve the impact of attendance upon coursework and academic success.
7. Assists in investigating and addresses minor student disciplinary matters when administrators are not available or are otherwise engaged in other leadership or management duties.
8. Uses motivational theory to assist students, their parents, counselors, and teachers in developing plans for improving student attendance and addressing essential skills and concepts which were missed due to the student's absence.
9. Communicates and works effectively with a diverse group of students, parents, staff and outside resources to proactively improve attendance as well as implement interventions.
10. Assists in supervision of students during non-structured times such as before and after school, during lunch and during passing times.
11. Compiles discipline and attendance reports.
12. Supports the supervisor, building/district procedures and practices in a positive and professional manner.
13. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month position for a 50% - 60% FTE to be part of a full-time certified position

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated at least once per year by the Principal of the school.

PK-12 Student Performance Specialist

Description Qualifications:
1. Qualified applicants must be appropriately licensed/certified by the North Dakota DPI and Educational Standards and Practices Board
2. ND Licensure as a teacher
3. At least 5 years of successful and relevant work experience
4. Written and Oral Communication
5. Basic computer and technology skills are required.
6. Prefer applicants who have a Master's or a specialist degree
7. Experience working in the area of applied behavior analysis within the school setting.

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools

Job Goal: The Student Performance Specialist will work collaboratively with the Bismarck Public Schools' PK-12 Administration, Teachers, and Professional Support Staff to support those who are working with students with challenging behavior needs by identifying and assisting with the implementation of effective intervention strategies for the system and individual students.

Performance Responsibilities:
Assist in leading school improvement in the interaction between behavior and academics within a Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS).
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support staff with the goal of building capacity within a school building to prevent and remediate behavioral and discipline problems.
Provide consultation and assistance to educators in meeting the PK-12 aligned behavioral and social/
emotional needs of students within the educational setting by implementing evidence-based behavior programs, curriculum, and/or interventions.
Assist in conducting and interpreting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA)
Assist and collaborate in designing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
Collaborate in order to design behavioral intervention techniques that match student needs.
Assist in developing individual, group, and/or system level interventions intended to improve the identified concerns regarding behavior and the impact upon academics.
Consult and collaborate with educators regarding challenging behavior and/or learning difficulties in order to improve student outcomes.
Provide support, instructions, guidance, and technical assistance for ongoing progress monitoring toward goals that are measurable for individuals, groups, or system level data.
Collaboratively work in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student data.
Advise and consult with members of a building's student Problem Solving Teams.
Collaborate with members of Student Support Services.
Assist and guide the utilization of positive behavior supports when designing interventions to support and facilitate a positive and caring climate for learning.
Works to foster cultural competence and a clear sense of the mission and vision of Bismarck Public Schools.
Effectively communicates with faculty and staff concerning student needs.
Works to leverage resources in order to support and accomplish goals.
Participates in training, workshops, and personal learning aimed toward professional growth.
Functions as part of the Instructional Coaches Team and serves on the Instructional Design Team.
Performs work in a professional and ethical manner.
Other duties as assigned.

Performance responsibilities and duties may change at any time depending on the needs of the district.

Terms of Employment: Flexible Schedule of 187 contract days throughout the year. Salary and work year to be determined by the Board.

Salary: Commensurate with Experience and Training: To be paid on Teacher Salary Scale

Evaluation: All jobs will be evaluated on a formal basis at least once per calendar year. Additional evaluation may be required at the discretion of the supervisor.
