Computer Application Instructor - Adult Learning Center

Application deadline date: Mon., July 11, 2016

Bismarck Public Schools is seeking a Computer Instructor for the Adult Learning Center. Qualified candidates should have the ability to teach beginning Microsoft software applications to adults. This
position is funded through a Workforce Safety Insurance grant to help injured workers four hours a day/four days a week August through December 2016. Depending on the grant funding there is a possibility of additional hours January through May 2017.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Experience in using computer software
3. Experience teaching adults

This position is a Step 9 on the Support Staff Salary Schedule.

ELL Classroom Aide/Tutor - Adult Learning Center

Application deadline date: Fri., July 1, 2016

Assist the classroom teacher in reinforcing teaching and ensuring learning with all Adult Learning Center students
Use best practices with ELL instruction to ensure learning in each level of ELL programming
Participate in all district and state Adult Education meetings and activities as assigned
Assist other staff including office staff as needed to complete other duties as assigned

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with preference given to candidates with college training and to those that possess ELL experience and/or education.

Starting salary: $16.14 per hour

Math Tutor/Aide - Adult Learning Center

Help tutor students to acquire their GED
Work with English Language Learners
Assist the classroom teacher in reinforcing teaching and ensuring learning with Adult Learning Center students
Use best practices with math/science instruction to ensure learning in each level of student programming
Participate in all district and state Adult Education meetings and activities as assigned

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with preference given to candidates with college training and to those that possess math teaching/instruction experience and/or education.

This position is 20 to 25 hours per week. Most of the hours are during the day but could involve some evening hours as well.

Starting salary: $16.14 per hour

Head Start Instructional Aide at BECEP (2 positions)

TITLE: BECEP Head Start Instructional Aide

QUALIFICATIONS: CDA or AA Degree or Equivalent. Ability to obtain a ND Paraeducator Certificate

REPORTS TO: Assigned Teacher and/or Program Coordinator

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Step 3 - Support Salary Schedule

Starting Salary: $13.57 per hour

Internal Displaced Instructional Aide Transfer (2016-17 School Year)

Instructional Aides who will be displaced from their 2015-16 school year position can submit a job application for an internal transfer for the 2016-17 school year. This will allow principals to view applicants for vacant positions.


AVID Tutors

Application deadline date: Fri., September 30, 2016

Tutors are key to the success of the AVID program. AVID tutors from colleges and universities are trained to use specific teaching methodologies and materials to facilitate the AVID tutorial process. Tutors work with AVID students in tutorial groups, assisting in all academic areas to make progress towards college readiness. AVID tutorials occur in small groups (7:1 student to tutor ratio). Tutors lead tutorial sessions through inquiry and collaboration to help students determine answers to their questions on their own and by working with fellow students.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Current college student or college graduate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
AVID tutors are motivated, organized, responsible, successful college students or college graduates who believe all students can succeed. AVID tutors work in a supportive manner with secondary students (middle and high school), district, and campus personnel. AVID tutors serve as tutorial facilitators and do not act in a teacher or substitute teacher capacity. AVID tutors will need to complete required training to participate in this program.

AVID Tutor positions are filled throughout the year from a pool of qualified applicants.

Starting salary: $11.14 per hour

Substitute Bus Drivers

Substitute bus drivers are needed in the district to drive for activity trips and fill in on bus routes as needed.

Qualifications:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
