Special Education ED Teacher Aide

This is an instructional aide position. The majority of your time is supporting students with emotional disorders in the elementary school classroom and in a special education resource setting. A qualified candidate would be implementing the steps of individual student behavior plans.

Detention/Study Hall Supervisor - Simle Middle School

This person will assist with Detention and In-School Suspension as well as other student supports as needed. Teaching degree preferred but not required.

Parking Lot Attendant-Security Officer - Legacy High School

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in related job
3. Must have good oral communication skills, be able to work with high school age kids and be willing to work outside in inclement weather.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Check cars for parking passes and write tickets for cars that do not have them displayed.
2. Do periodic sweeps through building hallways.
3. Direct student parking upon arrival to school.
4. Monitor and maintain flow of traffic as students are picked up after school.
5. Monitor, correct, and report reckless driving within parking lots.
6. Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
7. Greet/direct visitors to designated parking and proper entrance to the building.
8. Address student questions regarding parking.
9. Keep driving lanes and emergency routes clear and accessible.
10. Monitor safety of parking lots, including report of suspicious behavior/activity.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, nine-month position

Starting salary: $15.22 per hour

Library Aide - Legacy High School

Qualifications:
1. Prefer post high-school experience and/or education in the following fields: Instructional Development K-12; libraries; and technologies
2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills
3. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds

Job goal: To assist the LMS with library services; to provide guidance and supervision for students with the direction of the classroom teacher and/or the library media specialist; and to provide support to the LMS in all other aspects of the district library curriculum plan.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Guide students and staff in location, selection, and evaluation of both print and online services.**
2. Provide students and staff assistance in utilizing library technology services.**
3. Circulate among students and staff working in the library, assist them with literacy and technology services, and refer questions that need more assistance to the library media specialist.
4. Perform circulation desk tasks and procedures, including interlibrary loans.**
5. As assigned, perform tasks of ordering, processing, repairing materials, keep statistical records, inventory, and weeding.**
6. Assist students and staff in preparing bibliographies.
7. Assist library media specialist with maintaining library web pages and preparation of library publications.
8. Perform the tasks and procedures needed for the circulation of the daily mail, new magazines and newspapers, etc.
9. Shelve, straighten, and read shelves of resources.
10. Assist with the promotion of library/reading programs, displays, book fairs, and other special projects.
11. Understand library associated district policies.
12. Help maintain a safe, productive, and inviting atmosphere for students and staff.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Head Custodian - Lincoln Elementary School

Reports To: Principal

Salary Classification: Step 7 - Support Staff Salary Schedule

Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place in which to learn, play,and develop.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain and operate heating, cooling, and air distribution systems to include boilers, cleaning or replacing filters, converting from natural gas to heating fuel, and operating equipment. **
2. Supervise and perform general repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, minor painting, and general mechanical areas. **
3. Follow directions on container labels and carefully mix proper quantities of cleaning solvents as part of the preparation of cleaning activities. **
4. Shovel, plow, snow blow, and sand sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and front entrances, as appropriate. **
5. Supervise and perform general cleaning of the school building such as vacuuming, scrubbing, stripping, mopping, and applying finishes. **
6. Responsible for the general security of the building, but not limited to, key control, and locking of all doors and windows. **
7. Keep the school grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat, cut, trimmed and cleaned at all times. **
8. Assure that all exit doors are free and clear of all obstructions and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
9. Supervise custodial staff in the building, including participation in selection of staff, evaluation of staff, directing staff, and scheduling staff. **
10. Assist in remodel and renovation work.
11. Order and receive custodial supplies and maintain necessary inventories.
12. Responsible for the general fire safety of the building, including fire extinguisher maintenance, control of combustible materials, and following fire code procedures and regulations.
13. Perform emergency repairs, or cleaning services, as necessary, such as boarding up broken windows or mopping up after a roof leak.
14. Request assistance from the Facilities and Transportation Department when major maintenance or repairs are beyond his/her capacity.
15. Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and all lights, other than security lights, are turned off.
16. Perform inspections and evaluations, as required, and maintain appropriate documentation, including but not limited to, playground, safety, asbestos, and personnel files.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
18. The performance responsibilities and duties may change at any time depending on the needs of the district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: All jobs will be evaluated on a formal basis at least once per calendar year. Additional evaluation may be required at the discretion of the supervisor.

Shift: 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Starting Salary: $18.17 per hour

Title I Instructional Aide

Seeking 1-2 people, to work in the Title I program at Lincoln Elementary. Depending on qualifications, will provide instructional support to students in reading and/or math and will work under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher.

Secretary II - Community Relations

JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the community relations office for the maximum positive impact on the education of children.

Performance Responsibilities:

3. * Greets all visitors, handles their inquiries, and directs them to administration.
4. * Assist in the completion of all materials for the Community Relations Office.

AmeriCorps Elementary Literacy Tutors

North Dakota Reading Corps is seeking tutors to help Bismarck/Mandan kindergarten through third grade students succeed in school by giving them the extra support they need in learning how to read. Reading Corps tutors work one-on-one with a caseload of students for 20 minute sessions daily. This part-time position requires a commitment for the entire school year, 5 days a week. Tutors work during the school day while school is in session.

As an AmeriCorps tutor, you will receive a living allowance of about $600 monthly for reduced half-time (20 hours/week) / $400 monthly for quarter time (15 hours/week), an education award of $2,150 (RHT) /$1,493 (QT) to be used for college tuition and current student loans. Tutors who are 55 or older may choose to transfer their education award to a child, grandchild or foster child.
