AmeriCorps Elementary Literacy Tutors

North Dakota Reading Corps is seeking tutors to help Bismarck/Mandan kindergarten through third grade students succeed in school by giving them the extra support they need in learning how to read. Reading Corps tutors work one-on-one with a caseload of students for 20 minute sessions daily. This part-time position requires a commitment for the entire school year, 5 days a week. Tutors work during the school day while school is in session.

As an AmeriCorps tutor, you will receive a living allowance of about $600 monthly for reduced half-time (20 hours/week) / $400 monthly for quarter time (15 hours/week), an education award of $2,150 (RHT) /$1,493 (QT) to be used for college tuition and current student loans. Tutors who are 55 or older may choose to transfer their education award to a child, grandchild or foster child.

Assistive Technology Aide - Horizon Middle School

Assists student with disabilities in learning and technology.
Must be comfortable in using Word, Google, Excel spreadsheets as well as troubleshooting computer problems and other technology issues.
Must be comfortable working with students.
Ability to work with a group of adults.
Ability to work with teacher and students and develop ways students can learn through assistive technology.

Head Secretary - Miller Elementary School

Reports To: Principal

Salary Classification: Step 8 - Support Staff Salary Schedule

Job Goal: To complete office work and coordinate other matters essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the school.

1. Work efficiently, completing all assigned job duties on a timely basis. **
2. Compile, organize, and maintain all required student, school, state, and federal records and
reports. **
3. Inform principal of matters which affect the operation of the school. **
4. Verify daily student attendance and follow up, as necessary. **
5. Input and verify payroll information for all staff. **
6. Determine that appropriate criteria have been met for the release of students and/or student information. **
7. Assist students, staff, and the public with all inquiries, if unable to answer their question direct them to someone who can. **
8. Oversee school purchases and budgets. **
9. Manage and administer student medications. **
10. Print report cards and modify stored grades four times per year.
11. Assess and report student and staff injuries.
12. Assist in scheduling and preparing parent teacher conferences twice a year.
13. Manage the school meal program.
14. Assist with summer programs at the school, as needed.
15. Comprehend and execute secretary roles and responsibilities, as detailed in the District Emergency Operations Plan.

This position is approximately 10 months per year, 8 hours a day.

Attendance Secretary - Horizon Middle School

Maintain assistant principal's schedule of appointments and conferences as appropriate.
Receive incoming calls regarding attendance, tardies and health matters.
Record and print reports each day.
Collect planner fees, sports activity and BPS activity ticket fees
Maintain teacher budgets.
Maintain immunization records.
Perform non-attendance related clerical tasks such student registration.
Issue guest passes.
Update student information, phone numbers, etc. in PowerSchool.
Enter data in PowerSchool according to standard procedures and prepare daily attendance list.
Send 5, 10, 15 and 20 day letters home through mail and enter in "log entry" in PowerSchool.
Distribute absence, tardy, pre-planned cut slips and early dismissal slips.
Communicate with parents of absent students (primarily by telephone calling and letters).
Act as a resource to administration, guidance and teachers.
Ability to perform multi-tasks with frequent interruptions.
Quality Customer Service Skills.
Other duties as assigned.

This position is 10 months a year and 8 hours per day.

Child Nutrition Manager - Bismarck High School

2. Cooking experience
3. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, extended periods of standing, along with bending and stooping.

Oversee daily operations of Bismarck High School food service.
Ensure the production of safe and high quality of food is provided to students and staff.
Complete food orders and receive orders in.
Monitor all sale transactions within the BHS kitchen.
Cook, serve and wash dishes as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Position is 8 hours per day and follows the school calendar.

Starting salary: $20.42 per hour

Choir Accompanist - Century High School

Application deadline date: Mon., September 28, 2015 or until filled.

This position is 5 hours per day plus occasional time spent accompanying students at music festivals and
at concerts during the school year.

Instructional Aides - Elementary/Secondary (2015-2016)

Instructional Aide positions are filled throughout the year from a pool of qualified applicants. Additional education and/or experience may be required for specific aide positions. Number of hours per day and hourly rate may vary by position.

Bus Monitor - Bismarck Public Schools

Bismarck Public Schools has openings throughout the school year for bus monitors.

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. The ability to work with children in a competent matter.
3. Basic First Aid and CPR.

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Salary Classification: Step 3 - Support Staff Salary Schedule

Starting Salary: $13.18 per hour

Job Goal: To assist in providing safe transportation, as needed, to enhance the education and activities within the Bismarck Public School District.

1. Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus. **
2. Assist young and/or handicapped students in getting on and off of the bus. This includes knowledge of seat restraints systems to secure handicapped students. **
3. Assure that students get on and off the bus in an orderly manner. **
4. Make recommendations that will provide better transportation services to the students. **
5. Assist substitute drivers in navigating daily routes, as needed. **
6. Report any incidents to the Transportation Coordinator.

The performance responsibilities and duties may change at any time depending on the needs of the Bismarck Public School District.

Substitute Bus Drivers

Substitute bus drivers are needed in the district to drive for activity trips and fill in on bus routes as needed.
