Number of employees: 1,751 We are one of the largest employers in Bismarck with 947 teachers, 697 support staff, 61 professional support staff, and 46 administrators at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year; 40.65% of teachers and principals have master's degrees or higher.
Enrollment: 11,008 We are the largest school district in the state with 5,870 in elementary; 2,539 in middle school; 2,599 in senior high on the first day of school in 2011-12.
Average Class Size: 20.5 Our average elementary school class size was 20 students per classroom at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.
Percent of Attendance: 96.5% In 2010-2011, the amount of time all students were in school was 96.5%.
Drop Out Rate: 1.3% Our drop out rate for 2010-11 was 1.3% for a total of 33 students.
Graduation Numbers: 840 In May 2011, Bismarck High graduated 426 students; Century graduated 374; and South Central had 40 graduates.
National Honor Society: 23% In 2010-11, 23% of sophomores, juniors and seniors were inducted into the NHS with grades of B or higher; 21.5% of seniors had grades of A- or higher to earn Presidential Education Awards.
ACT Test Score: 21.9 The composite American College Test score for BHS for 2010-2011 was 21.4. The composite American College Test score for CHS for 2010-2011 was 22.3. The state average was 21.5; national was 21. A perfect score is 36.
Grade Configuration: K-6, 7-9, 10-12 Elementary is K-6; middle school is 7-9; high school is 10-12. This may change in the future to K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
Socio-Economic Status: 23.3% We use free and reduced meals as our basis for determining SES. In 2010-2011, the number of students who qualified for free and reduced meals was 2,470 or 23.3%.
Student Race: 88.6% Caucasion For 2010-11, the racial breakdown of our students was as follows: Caucasian, 88.6%; American Indian, 7.7%; Other, 3.7%.
Computers : 3,732 Our district has 3,732 useable student computers for a student-to-computer ratio of 2.8 to 1 in 2010-2011.
Budget: about $115 million In 2011-2012, our district budget is about $115 million. Taxpayers with a $100,000 home will pay about $640 in school property taxes. It costs us $8,348 to educate each student, which is below the state average of $9812.
Busing: 2,988 As of fall 2011, we provide free busing to some elementary and middle school students in city and rural students (2,647), special needs who qualify (54), and BECEP/Head Start children (287).
